An Elizabethtown woman was arrested on drug-related charges after her vehicle was pulled over for a traffic stop.

Officers from the Columbus Police Department’s Intelligence Led Policing Unit stopped a vehicle at 3:15 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of California Street driven by Jessica A. Comstock, 32, of 302 Pennsylvania St., Elizabethtown, after noting the car was falsely registered, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

A short time later, Bartholomew County Sheriff Department K-9 Diesel alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle, Harris said.

Officers searched the vehicle and located several syringes and other drug paraphernalia inside, Harris said.

As Comstock was taken into custody, officers found methamphetamine and heroin that she had concealed in her clothing, Harris said.

Comstock was arrested on preliminary charges of:

Felony dealing in methamphetamine

Felony possession of methamphetamine

Felony dealing in heroin

Felony possession of heroin

Felony possession of a legend drug injection device

Misdemeanor driving while suspended with a prior conviction.

The preliminary charges were enhanced due to the traffic stop occurring within 500 feet of a school, Harris said.

Comstock was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail on a 48-hour hold, with a bond set at $712,500, jail officials said.
