Donald V. O’ Connor, 76, of Columbus, IN and former resident of New Palestine, IN for 18 years, passed away May, 1, 2019. He was born February 10, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York to John J. O’Connor and Jennie (Shorshinsky) O’Connor.

After completing his education, he later met and married his wife, Karen (Henderson) O’Connor, and they had been married nearly 31 years prior to his passing. Donald went on to train at the police academy, and worked for many years as an officer in New York before being hired as an executive vice president for Super Bakery.

Along with his work, he also had many joys in life; he was an avid reader and television watcher, and a devoted fan of the Pittsburg Steelers, as well as the Indianapolis Colts and Pacers. However, he found that his greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his family as a devoted husband, father, grandpa, uncle, and dear friend.

Donald is survived by his wife, Karen O’Connor; children, Deanna (Tim) Wenzler, Darin (Amanda Cantrell) Walsh, and Brady O’Connor; eight grandchildren, Collin, Hannah, Ross, Jack, Alex, David, Gloria, and Andrew; brother, Richard O’Connor; numerous nieces and nephews; and his three dogs, Cherri, Abigail, and Dixie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers. Jimmy and Eddie; as well as his sister, Jeanne.

Funeral services for Donald will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Hendryx Mortuary, Cumberland Chapel, 11636 East Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229, with visitation from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to service at the mortuary. Burial to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 North Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
