North, East lacrosse set for ‘Piston Cup’

The Columbus North and Columbus East lacrosse teams have been using the PAAL fields for their practices and home games.

Friday night, the two club programs will have a chance to play on the turf at North’s Max Andress Field when they play in the annual Piston Cup at 7 p.m.

The Olympians come into the game with a 2-4 record. The Bull Dogs are 3-6 and ranked No. 38 in the state.

“We see a lot of improvement this season,” North coach Andrew Jerman said. “We’ve had some cancellations because of weather and other things, which has kind of hurt us. We kind of got off to a slow start since we have a lot of new players, but we’ve kind of gained momentum over the past couple of weeks and gone from scoring a couple goals a game to double-digit scoring.”

Both teams are winding down their seasons with just a few games remaining.
