Duncan tied for second after opening-round 64

Tyler Duncan fired an opening-round 7-under-par 64 Thursday and is tied for second place in the AT&T Byron Nelson Classic.

Duncan, a 2008 Columbus North graduate, had four birdies and an eagle in the first seven holes and shot 6-under 30 on the front nine at Trinity Forest Golf Club, Dallas, Texas. He had a 1-under 34 on the back nine.

Duncan’s 64 was just one shot off his career-best round of 63, which he recorded in the third round of last year’s John Deere Classic.

Denny McCarthy leads the Byron Nelson tournament at 8-under 63, one shot ahead of Duncan and Tom Hoge. Brooks Koepka is among nine players in a tie for fourth at 6-under 65.
