• all the staff at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus for the awesome care for my brother, Donald Hashman — everyone was very nice and helpful even for me and Peewee, from Sandra Brown.

• Jody Longstreet and all the Columbus mail carriers on their collection of more than 11,000 pounds of food for the local food pantries Saturday — job well done!

• Kim Shade Gardner for doing an excellent grooming job, from Sherlock.

• our amazing volunteers for United Way’s Day of Caring — your efforts will improve our work with clients, allow us to do youth prevention work, and provide community outreach; hope to see you again, from your friends at Turning Point.

• Maj. Chris Lane of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department and City Councilmen Frank Miller and Tim Shuffett for speaking at the Flat Rock Park North Neighborhood Watch meeting May 13 where 35 civic-minded neighbors participated.

• our amazing street department — I emailed over the weekend and they filled the chuckholes on Monday.

• the staff at Columbus Regional Hospital in the heart cath lab and second-floor nurses and Dr. G for their care and kindness.

• Ann Young Neal and family for putting on a fantastic Mother’s Day dinner and adding a birthday party, from her sister-in law, Linda Mitchell.

• Aspen Dental for great service and especially the secretary who helped in the 10:30 appointment — she was an immense help.

• my lake friends for a great birthday party at the Farm House Café.

• Janie Losure Gordon for organizing and giving her talent at the music man and Deb’s event this past weekend, from the Perry’s.

Onions to …

• the elected official who insists Mexico will pay for the wall and China will pay for tariffs, when in fact it is us taxpayers paying for both.

• the truck that tailgated for three miles on South County Road 100W on my way to work.

• the company for firing people for doing what their manager requested them to do.

• those who don’t realize that the elected official’s actions earn him those Republic onions.

• people who don’t understand that you can make the choice not to do heroin or cocaine just one time so you don’t become addicted.

• the town that does not spray for mosquitoes anymore.

• the elected official for continuing to falsely claim his tariffs are paid for by China.

• the cost of Trump’s tariffs falling entirely on U.S. businesses and households.

• anyone who votes for the Democrat socialists.
