Olympians down Trojans
ST. LEON — East Central scored three times in the first, but Class 4A No. 4 Columbus East recovered for a 12-7 victory.
Julian Greenwell went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for the Olympians (16-4). Starting and winning pitcher T.J. Barkhimer went 2 for 4, Clayton Taylor went 2 for 5, Nash Murphy had a home run and two RBIs and Jonah Wichman added two RBIs.
Royals edge Bull Dogs
Hamilton Southeastern plated a run in the fifth to break a 2-2 tie and hand Class 4A No. 5 Columbus North a 3-2 defeat.
The Royals outhit the Bull Dogs (19-6) 8-6. Reese Harmon took the loss.
Jets roll to easy win
HOPE — Class A No. 5 Hauser scored 16 times in the first inning, and Will Trotter threw a one-hitter in a 28-0, five-inning Mid-Hoosier Conference win against Morristown.
Jacob Luken went 4 for 4 with a double, a triple and seven RBIs for the Jets (14-4, 10-0). Kobe Meahl went 3 for 4, Sean Miller went 2 for 3 with a double, Trotter went 2 for 4 with three RBIs. Parker Eickbush had a grand-slam homer for four RBIs, Jackson Paradise had three RBIs and Landon Asher, Frankie Poole and Eli Miller had two RBIs.
Eagles take 11th
GREENCASTLE — Brown County claimed a 6-4 win at South Putnam in the Western Indiana Conference 11th-place game.
John Wayne Ziegler and Jake Riehl each went 2 for 4 for the Eagles (9-12).
Stars rally past Panthers
BEDFORD — Jennings County led 6-2 going to the bottom of the seventh, but Bedford North Lawrence scored five times to rally for a 7-6 win.
Duncan Rowda went 2 for 4 for the Panthers (5-11).
Chargers top Cougars
GREENSBURG — North Decatur scored 10 times in the first inning and went on to post a 21-2, five-inning MHC win against South Decatur.
The Cougars (5-10, 3-7) were limited to two hits.
SOFTBALL
Olympians nip Panthers
Columbus North plated a run in the bottom of the seventh to pull out a 3-2 win against Bloomington South.
Jordan Johnston threw a four-hitter and went 3 for 4 at the plate to lead the Olympians (7-13).
Jets rout Yellow Jackets
HOPE — Hauser scored 13 times in the second inning on its way to an 18-2, five-inning MHC win against Morristown.
Abby Branum went 3 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs, and Shelby Fugate went 2 for 3 with a double, a triple and four RBIs for the Jets (7-11, 5-3). Winning pitcher Hunter Crain went 2 for 3, and Hannah Johnson and Kristin Keith each had two RBIs.
South Decatur falls
GREENSBURG — North Decatur scored 19 times in the first three innings and went on to hand South Decatur a 21-6, five-inning MHC defeat.
Madison Shields went 2 for 3 with a double, and Erynn Dyer hit a three-run homer for the Cougars (2-12, 2-6).
Eagles finish second
BRAZIL — Brown County took the lead with a run in the top of the seventh, but Northview plated two in the bottom of the inning to pull out a 6-5 win in the WIC championship game.
Adri Kritzer went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Eagles (18-3).
BOYS GOLF
North bests Seymour
SEYMOUR — Henry Kiel won medalist honors with a 37 to lead Columbus North to a 157-186 win against Seymour at Shadowood.
Luke Schneider carded a 39 for the Bull Dogs. Jacob Niedbalski added a 40, Luke VanDeventer shot 41 and Jackson Kerber had a 44.
New Albany outscores East
NEW ALBANY — Kody Reynolds won medalist honors with a 1-over-par 37, but Columbus East fell to New Albany 164-182 at Valley View.
Leyton Erfmeier added a 47 for the Olympians. Adrian Adams shot 48, and Cole Schaefer had a 50.
Artesians stop Lancers
EDINBURGH — Bladen Hancock won medalist honors with a 36, but Edinburgh lost to Martinsville 166-206 at Timbergate.
Jordan Myers carded a 50 for the Lancers. Travis Jones added a 58, Darius Bennett shot 62 and Parker Neumann had a 64.
GIRLS TENNIS
Triton tops Hauser
HOPE — Hauser claimed a victory at No. 2 doubles, but that was all in a 4-1 loss to Triton Central.
Aunaka Wasil and Brooke Hopkins beat Miles Glackman and Alli Eck 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles for the Jets (6-7). Carly Archer and Maddy Archer fell to Ainsley Denton and Julia Sanders 0-6, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles.
Hauser’s Abby Johnson lost to Emily LeMasters 6-7 (4), 6-1, (11-9) at No. 1 singles, Melanie Taylor fell to Maya Chandler 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Andie Clark lost to Rylie Stephens 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
