COLUMBUS
Velma F. Davis, 89, of Columbus, died at 6:09 p.m. May 16, 2019, at her home.
Velma was born July 24, 1929, in Glasgow, Kentucky, the daughter of William and Eula Fields.
She married Roy Davis March 5, 1955, and he preceded her in death on August 17, 1983.
She enjoyed family night Bingo, traveling and cookouts. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2019, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Branum officiating. Calling will be 11 a.m. until time of service Monday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Survivors include her son, Kenny Davis of Columbus and daughters, Margaret (Terry) Branum of North Vernon, Debbie (Willy) Whedon of Columbus, Nancy Atkins of Columbus, and Laura (Brian) Barnsfather of Columbus; stepson, Randall Davis and stepdaughter, Judy (Larry) Miller; sisters, Nettie Jessie of Columbus, Ruby Starr and Mable Cash, both of Kentucky; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; son, Wayne Fields and daughter, Diane Zurbrugg; several brothers and sisters; and a son-in-law, Gary Atkins.
