Ivy Tech hosts Express Enrollment event

Ivy Tech Community College will host an Express Enrollment Day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at more than 20 locations across Indiana, including Columbus at 4475 Central Ave.

During this event, prospective students can visit a participating Ivy Tech location for an in-person enrollment experience.

With Ivy Tech staff on site, students can register for classes, discuss financial aid options and meet with academic advisors. Students can also learn more about assessment options. For students without school transcripts or test scores to provide, the ACCUPLACER assessment can assist them in determining the classes that align with their needs.

During Express Enrollment Day, students can complete the FYIvy online orientation and schedule in-person orientation sessions, including campus tours.

Express Enrollment Day is free, however, students are encouraged to RSVP. For more details, visit ivytech.edu/EEDay.

African American Fund creates IUPUC scholarship

The African American Fund of Bartholomew County, in conjunction with IUPUC, has created a scholarship fund that will provide a student with $1,000 per year for four years to attend IUPUC. The student must be African American, must reside in Bartholomew County and must be an incoming freshman to IUPUC.

“I am pleased that the African American Fund of Bartholomew County and IUPUC are partnering to establish a program to provide financial and advisory support to Bartholomew County African American students who attend IUPUC,” said Tom Harmon, African American Fund of Bartholomew County president.

The first $1,000 scholarship is to be awarded for the 2019-2020 academic year. Each year an additional scholarship will be added for a newly enrolled student, and existing students will be able to renew their scholarship for a total of four years. In addition to the financial aid, students will have the opportunity to be mentored by local community leaders.

For specific scholarship requirements and to apply, students can go to iupuc.edu/aafbc-scholarship. Applications are due by June 1.
