North rallies for win

INDIANAPOLIS — Class 4A No. 7 Columbus North was down to its final strike Monday night, but Blake Huffman came through with a three-run single to give the Bull Dogs a 4-2 lead.

Then after Roncalli scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game, North scored in the top of the eighth to pull out a 5-4 win. Grant Trinkle doubled with one out in eighth, went to third on a single by Homare Takauchi and scored an a groundout by Kyler McIntosh.

Huffman finished 3 for 3 with three RBIs for the Bull Dogs (21-7). Devon Rodgers went 2 for 2, Trinkle went 2 for 3 and Takauchi went 2 for 4.

McIntosh picked up the win in relief of Casper Clark. Adam Chapman earned the save.

Jets fall to Saints

INDIANAPOLIS — Class A No. 1 Hauser led 6-1 after 3 1/2 innings, but Indianapolis Lutheran rallied for a 12-7 victory.

Sean Miller went 3 for 3 with a home run for the Jets (18-5). Parker Eickbush went 2 for 3, Will Trotter went 2 for 4 and Kobe Meahl had two RBIs.

Trojans topple Panthers

ST. LEON — After giving up five runs in the first inning, Jennings County tied it with five in the second, but East Central recovered to post a 9-5 victory.

Ian Sawyer went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for the Panthers (7-14). Carson McNulty also went 2 for 3.

Bull Dogs down Pirates

GREENSBURG — Drew Smith and Jacob Niedbalski tied for medalist honors with 38s to lead No. 12 Columbus North to a 155-164 win against Greensburg at Greensburg Country Club.

Luke Schnieder added a 39 for the Bull Dogs. Jackson Kerber and Luke VanDeventer each shot 40, and Henry Kiel had a 41.

Jackets clip Lancers

MORRISTOWN — Bladen Hancock tied for medalist honors with a 42, but Edinburgh fell to Morristown 200-222 at River’s Edge.

Jordan Myers carded a 59 for the Lancers. Travis Jones added a 60, Parker Neumann shot 61 and Darius Bennett had a 71.

Eagles oust Cougars

RISING SUN — After falling behind 6-0, South Decatur rallied to within 10-7 after 3 1/2 innings, but Jac-Cen-Del pulled away for a 19-9, six-inning win in the opening round of the Class A Rising Sun Sectional.

Sierra Lang went 2 for 3 with a triple, and Annie Gant went 2 for 4 with two RBIs for the Cougars (3-17). Sam Goodfellow also had a double and two RBIs.

Senators top Trinity

CAMPBELLSBURG — West Washington broke open a 1-0 game by scoring 11 times in the third inning in posting a 12-0, five-inning win against Trinity Lutheran in the opening round of the West Washington Sectional.

The Cougars (9-10) were limited to three hits.
