Local man arrested after police find meth lab components in car

A local man was arrested Tuesday night after Columbus police officers located components of a methamphetamine lab in his vehicle after he attempted to evade arrest.

Columbus police attempted to stop a vehicle at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, noting that it was traveling at a high rate of speed in an alley near 11th and Washington streets, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

The vehicle, driven by Ryan S. Harden, 37, of 639 Eighth St., refused to pull over and the officer followed him until Harden’s vehicle came to an abrupt stop in the 600 block of Eighth Street, Harris said.

Harden was taken into custody at gunpoint and officers later located several components of a methamphetamine lab inside his vehicle, Harris said.

Harden was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was incarcerated on a 48-hour hold on the following preliminary charges — resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, reckless driving and possession of methamphetamine precursors with the intent to manufacture.

He was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $17,500 bond, jail officials said.
