Working out three to five days a week at Anytime Fitness has offered me the unfortunate view of countless drivers parking in the "Reserved Physically Challenged" parking spots for Starbucks customers. There are three slots for the people needing them the most and over 20 slots available for everyone else. Make that 30 if you include the side lot for Anytime Fitness.
I’ve witnessed this over the years and I’m just astounded at how many physically capable people park in these spots because they are, one, in a hurry, or, two, just too lazy to find an open slot among the other 30 slots available.
Another problem is with people picking up coffee ordered through the app. They tend to pull up to the front door, sometimes blocking one or even two of the reserved spots.
Great job and kudos for everyone who does recognize the need to leave these spots open! They should keep up the good work. It’s the right thing to do.
Hopefully this short letter will bring light to the problem and change the behavior of the violators. I am, by no way, throwing dirt at Starbucks. I, myself, am a coffee snob and love my Starbucks. So next time one pulls up for their cup of joe, instead of taking the easy route, find an open slot in the parking lot, take a few extra steps, then stop and smell the roses, or should I say coffee.
