Club Olympia finished second out of 19 teams from Indiana and Illinois in last weekend’s FAST 500 Invitational at Fishers High School.
Nine Club Olympia swimmers finished in the top 10 in their age groups for high point scoring, with five earning high point trophies for being among the top three scorers in their respective age groups.
Leading the way was Nalanie Cortez, who won high point in the 13-14 Girls with 152 points earned by winning eight of her 10 events — the 100-yard freestyle, 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle and 1,500 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 200 individual medley and 400 IM. She also finished second in the 50 freestyle and fourth in the 100 breaststroke. Cortez dropped more than 30 seconds to win the 1,500 by over 45 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher in the 13-14 Girls and by over 25 seconds ahead of the winner of the Girls Open division.
Brady Beyer led the Club Olympia boys, earning 114 points to place second in high-point scoring in the 13-14 Boys age group. Beyer won four of his nine events — the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 1,500 freestyle, dropping more than 30 seconds from his previous best time. He placed second in the 200 IM and 400 freestyle, third in the 200 backstroke, seventh in the 100 butterfly and eighth in the 100 Backstroke.

Misha Machavariani also won the second-place high point trophy in the 11-12 Boys age group, scoring 112 points by placing first in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM; second in the 50 breaststroke, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle and 400 IM; third in the 50 butterfly, 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke and eighth in the 100 freestyle.
Finishing in third in high point scoring in the Girls 13-14 events was Maggie Johnson, who finished with 91 points. Johnson took second in the 200 butterfly; third in the 100 freestyle, 400 freestyle and 200 IM; fourth in the 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle and 400 IM, sixth in the 200 backstroke and 14th in the 100 backstroke.
Also finishing third in high point scoring in the 8-and-under Boys division was Tony Machavariani with 54 points. He was second in the 50 freestyle, third in the 50 backstroke and 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle and eighth in the 50 breaststroke.
Erica Samuel tied for fourth in high point scoring for the Girls Open division with 76 points. Samuel placed first in the 200 freestyle, third in the 200 IM, fourth in the 1,500 freestyle, fifth in the 100 freestyle, sixth in the 200 backstroke, seventh in the 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke and ninth in the 100 Butterfly.
Shreyan Kulkarni tied for fifth in high point scoring in the 8-and-under Boys division with 51 points by taking fourth in the 50 breaststroke, fifth in the 50 butterfly and 100 freestyle, sixth in the 100 backstroke, seventh in the 50 backstroke and ninth in the 50 Freestyle.
Evan Patterson Finished sixth in the Boys Open high point scoring with 72 points by winning the 100 butterfly and placing third in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, fifth in the 100 freestyle, sixth in the 200 freestyle and 200 IM and ninth in the 100 Backstroke.
Nick Green was eighth in high point scoring in the Boys Open division, earning 59 points by taking third in the 200 IM, fourth in the 100 freestyle and 200 butterfly, fifth in the 400 IM and seventh in the 200 breaststroke and 400 freestyle.
Connelly Furnish finished second in the 10-and-under Girls 50 breaststroke, fourth in the 200 freestyle, sixth in the 400 freestyle, and seventh in the 100 freestyle. Joshua Pendleton took sixth in the 10-and-under Boys 200 freestyle and ninth in the 100 freestyle.
Daniella Preston placed ninth in the 11-12 Girls 100 backstroke and 400 IM. Brooklyn Pendleton was seventh in the 10&U Girls 50 Backstroke. Zoie Chandelkar finished 10th in the 10&U Girls 50 breaststroke and Sanaa Kulkarni took 10th in the 10&U Girls 100 breaststroke.
Donner races at Purdue
Three Donner Swim Club swimmers competed in their first meet of the summer season last weekend at Purdue’s Boilermaker Aquatics Center.
Christopher Lee finished 10th in the 100 backstroke, 11th in the 50 freestyle, 13th in the 200 backstroke, 18th in the 100 freestyle, 23rd in the 400 freestyle and 32nd in the 200 freestyle.
Betsy King took 15th in the 400 IM, 30th in the 200 freetstyle, 31st in the 50 freestyle, 38th in the 200 IM, 41st in the 100 freestyle and 46th in the 100 butterfly, 58th in the 200 backstroke.
Karlie Brown was 19th in the 200 butterfly 42nd in the 400 IM, 81st in the 100 butterfly and 119th in the 200 freestyle.
All Donner swimmers will compete in the club’s Jaime Miller Invitational Friday through June 2 at the Donner Park pool.
