Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers will play a significant role in developing and leading a camp to help Indiana children.
Myers have been elected by fellow law enforcement officers to play a significant part in developing and leading the non-profit Indiana Sheriffs’ Youth Ranch.
Recently purchased with private donations, the 62-acres Youth Ranch near Brazil, Indiana, is meant to be a permanent venue for Indiana sheriffs and deputies to mentor future law enforcement officers.
In addition, the ranch will also assist officers in developing bonds with at-risk kids, as well as help young witnesses and victims of crimes.
Myers will be joined by former Marion County Sheriff Frank Anderson in both developing and leading the facility that will begin accepting children to attend this summer, according to John Layton, president of the nonprofit organization that owns the ranch.
“Our deputies, police officers and state troopers want the right young people to go into law enforcement for the right reasons, and mentored by the right people in the right way,” Layton said. “Matt and Frank are exactly the right people.”
