UPDATE: At approximately 10 p.m Sunday, divers recovered the body of William Snoddy, 31, of Indianapolis. He was located in about 30 feet of water in the Allen’s Creek Bay area of Lake Monroe. He was not wearing a life jacket. An autopsy will be scheduled through Monroe County coroner’s office to determine the cause of death. MONROE COUNTY — Indiana Conservation Officers are searching for an adult male who is missing in the area of Allen’s Creek Bay in Lake Monroe.
First responders received a call about an adult male that went under the water at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the lake. He had been swimming from the back of a boat that had been anchored in the bay.
Indiana Conservation Officers will continue searching tonight until dark. They are using side scan sonar and scuba divers to search for the victim. Also assisting in the search effort are Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, IU Health, Perry-Clear Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Monroe County Fire Department.
