Deputies investigate hit-and-run accident on Jonesville Road

Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies are investigating a hit and run accident involving a vehicle hitting a utility gas line.

Deputies were sent to the 5000 block of Jonesville Road at 9:12 p.m. Wednesday about the accident.

On arrival, deputies located a utility gas line that had been struck and was actively leaking.

Deputies and firefighters from Wayne Township Fire Department evacuated several residents in the immediate area of the gas leak. Jonesville Road was closed for more than an hour while the gas company secured the line.

Details of the suspect vehicle are unknown and there are no suspects at this time.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
