Local man arrested on drug-related charges in alley

Columbus police arrested a local man on drug-related charges after spotting him in an alley.

Shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday, officers saw Jayson D. Ackenback, 35, Columbus, squatting down next to a shed in the 1000 block of California Street, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

When officers spoke with Ackenback, they detected a strong odor of marijuana, Harris said. The officers located methamphetamine, marijuana and prescription medication along with a counterfeit $20 bill in his possession, Harris said.

Ackenback was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a look-alike substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe and forgery, police said.
