Two arrested after traffic stop in Columbus

A Bartholomew County motorist and his passenger were arrested early today after a traffic stop at 10th Street near National Road.

Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies stopped the vehicle at 12:55 a.m. Friday and learned that the driver, Brian Bachmann, 33, 2113 Chandler St., had a suspended driver’s license, deputies said.

Columbus Police Officer Chad Lehman’s K9 alerted to narcotics inside the vehicle, deputies said. During a search, deputies found methamphetamine, marijuana and drug-related paraphernalia, deputies said.

Bachmann was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, deputies said. He has since been released from the Bartholomew County Jail, jail officials said.

A passenger, a female initially gave deputies a false name, was later identified as Kelli Barlow, 35, Scipio, deputies said. They learned she had a felony warrant seeking her arrest out of Jennings County.

Barlow was arrested on a preliminary charge of false informing and the felony warrant, and remains in the Bartholomew County Jail with no bond, jail officials said.
