INDIANAPOLIS
Sally Carol Shampine of Indianapolis Indiana, formally of Columbus, Indiana passed away June 5,2019 at the age of 69. She was born in Cheboygan, Michigan November 24,1949 to Francis and Dorothy Shampine.
She was proceeded in death by her parents and her brothers Thomas Shampine and David Shampine.
Sally attended Cheboygan Catholic High School and received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Purdue University. Sally began her career when she moved to Washington D.C. after high school to work at the Pentagon.
She later settled in Columbus, Indiana where she was employed with Cummins Engine Company for 21 years. Sally was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Columbus, Indiana.
Sally enjoyed music, dancing, and reading. She greatly valued education and previously volunteered as a tutor.
She was always eager to help others and was a good friend to many and a devoted mother and grandmother.
In 1990 Sally was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis after suffering an MS attack while participating in a Walk America fundraiser. She battled this disease for 29 years with incredible strength and without complaint.
Sally is survived by her daughter Angie (Robert) Hensley-Langrel, grandchildren, Blake (Lexi) Hensley, Christian Langrel, and Raegan Langrel, great-grandchildren, Lelynd and Raeleigh Hensley, siblings, Novalee Niesen, Annette (Bill) Sova, Richard Shampine, Rita (Roger) Gobeyn, Marcia Shampine, Marlene (Craig) Bongard, Larry Shampine, Cheryl Kwiatkoski, Kim Cook, Denise (Arthur) Watts, Peter Shampine, and dear friends Thomas and Connie Barber.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, 1605 South State Road 135, Greenwood. Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cheboygan, Michigan on June 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., and burial immediately following at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
