Homeowners begin storm cleanup with chainsaws

Storm damage in the Cross Creek subdivision south of Columbus.

Bartholomew County first responders are saying much of the storm damage from Saturday night’s severe thunderstorms is in the southern part of the county around the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds and Southside Elementary School.

Families were cleaning up in the Cross Creek Subdivision Sunday afternoon, using chainsaws to clean up trees which had fallen after the trunks splintered during the high winds.

Columbus North’s baseball stadium and Dunn Stadium had extensive wind damage and trees were uprooted around Southside Elementary School.
