JENNINGS COUNTY — Jennings County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a North Vernon man on drug-related charges after being called to a location in Vernon about an overdose.

Deputies were sent to the call at 7:35 p.m. Monday near the old school in Vernon, said Chief Deputy Dave Turner. Upon arrival, Deputy Craig Hahn found a male standing near a vehicle, later identified as Nicholas Barlow, 24, North Vernon, Turner said.

While speaking with Hahn, Deputy Doug Brown and Sgt. Cody Low arrived to assist. Low observed a bag containing 2.5 grams of a crystal substance on the passenger seat of Barlow’s vehicle, Turner said.

Barlow was checked by Jennings County EMS at the scene and refused treatment. He was then arrested on a preliminary charge of possession of methamphetamine and taken to the Jennings County Jail, where he is being held on a cash bond of $3,155, Turner said.
