Around Town – June 21

Orchids to …

• Bud Herron for the spot-on column in Columbus Magazine because I’m of two minds, too.

• Lisa at Columbus Optical for going above and beyond to help my son — who wasn’t a patient but is now — with his contact lenses.

• Tommi and Lily for taking me to my appointment and bringing me a delicious Tropical Smoothie, from Grandma Sandy.

• Don Schroer for his common-sense letter to the editor about the riverfront project that he says is “just a huge ego trip for city officials.”

• the wonderful nurses physical therapists and doctors while I was at the hospital last Friday and Saturday.

• Sheriff’s Deputy Tindall and animal control officer Mark for taking care of my snake problem, from a very satisfied county resident.

• the East varsity baseball team.

• Don Schroer for the spot-on letter concerning the riverfront project, because he said it all.

• Noodles and Co. for outstanding service.

• Don Schroer for his letter on the riverfront, because he should run for mayor.

• Barb and Dr. Hunnicutt for all their hard work straightening out my problem, from Iris H.

Onions to …

• 911 dispatchers for not picking up on the first couple rings, from someone who had to call three separate times to get an answer.

• the city officials who are moving forward with the riverfront recreation project, despite the fact that flooding always happens in that same area.

• the mall landlord for not cutting down the dead trees along 25th Street.

• the elected county law enforcement officer for too much personal social media attention and selfies.

• the personnel coordinator at the big box store who was rude to the group of new hires during orientation, because first impressions mean so much.

• the Trump administration’s EPA for rolling back protections on clean water and clean air, which will affect each and every one of us.

• the city of Columbus for the riverfront project which would be our waste of our tax dollars many times over.

• the city of Columbus for not having some place for people to go for serious storms and the police department for being rude when asked about what to do, from someone in a mobile home with no family and no place to go.

Happy Birthday to …
