Live On the Plaza, the Columbus Area Arts Council’s signature summertime event on the Bartholomew County Library Plaza downtown, unfolded as a success but with a little lower attendance in the past, organizers said.
The Columbus Area Visitors Center and the city of Columbus supported the free gathering June 14.
Kathryn Armstrong, the arts council’s executive director, said attendees enjoyed the unconventional, meditative-oriented music of singer/instrumentalist Hanna Benn with percussionist Deantoni Parks and their vocalist friend Dylan Hostetter. She figures attendance may have been affected by people hosting friends and family for Cummins Inc.’s centennial anniversary and other activities.
She said she heard good feedback from several attendees.

“We’re giving artists who are a little edgy a different platform to share their creative talent with the community,” Armstrong said.
She added that all three expressed an interest in returning to Columbus and possibly working with mutual friend and multi-instrumentalist Emily Wells, who was in concert locally last fall via the arts council’s pop-up programming.
