COLUMBUS

Former owner of Lucas Bros. Sandwich Shop, Cheri L. Perkins, 64, of Columbus, passed from this life at 11:41 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Cheri was born November 2, 1954, in Columbus, Indiana, the loving daughter of William and Donna E. Robinson Bryant.

Cheri started working in the family business, Lucas Bros. Sandwich Shop, early in life. This is the only place of employment Cheri had. When her mother passed in 2005, Cheri became the owner of Lucas Bros.

Having a special place in her heart for children, Cheri enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and any other children in need. Cheri enjoyed cooking, doing crafts and watching TV, especially the Hallmark Channel.

Cheri is survived by her longtime companion, Charles Ingram of Columbus; her children, William (Chrystal) Broaddus of Columbus, Nicole Broaddus of Scottsburg, Danica Bayer of Columbus, Tara (Robert) Hazelwood of Columbus and Meghan Broaddus of Columbus; 15 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Cheri was preceded in death by her father, William Bryant; her mother and stepfather, Donna and Earl “Dean” Cannon; her former husband, Robert Broaddus; sisters, Donna Sue Johnson and Toni Byrum; and a grandson, Carter Gibson.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2019 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Pastor Douglas Smith will officiate.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 12:30 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Cheri will be laid to rest at the Garland Brook Cemetery.
