Driver dies in crash on I-70

INDIANAPOLIS — An adult male died in a single-vehicle crash on I-70 westbound near the 83 mile marker, Indiana State Police said.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at 2 p.m. Sunday where they found an adult male unconscious and unresponsive, state police said. He was transported to the hospital where he later died, state police said.

Investigating officers believe the vehicle left the roadway, lost control, came back onto the roadway before running off the road again and colliding with a concrete wall. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this crash, state police said. There were no other vehicles involved and there were no other passengers inside the vehicle.

The westbound lanes of I-70 were affected for more than two hours while the crash was investigated and the vehicle was removed. The identity of the deceased is being withheld until the family has time to make proper notifications.
