Around Town – August 3

Orchids to …

• U.S. power producers whose coal consumption has fallen to 35-year low during the Trump administration.

• the lady that turned my money clip (with money) into Culver’s in case I came back to claim it, and refused to accept a reward, and to Culver’s who gave her a sundae for being honest.

• Michael Greven for his colorful description of Republican leadership on fiscal and moral matters.

• the kind person that found my phone at Donner Park and turned it into the office.

• Michael Greven for advocating for morality from our elected officials.

• Kermet M. Key for pointing out the facts of the Mueller report to those who obviously haven’t read it.

• Joe Cole for his insightful letter from someone who totally agrees.

• Michael Greven for the great letter to the editor.

• Dr. Reed at Columbus OB/GYN for always being so kind and patient focused, because I wish all doctors were more like her.

• Columbus City Utilities for fixing my water leak at 10 p.m. Wednesday.

• Ron for cleaning up the dumpster area.

• Michael Greven’s letter in the paper on Friday.

• the Columbus Police Department for checking on our alarm system that was activated erroneously.

Onions to …

• those who author poorly written letters criticizing Democrats that are not accurate.

• people who don’t mind their own business.

• people who should stay out of other people’s yards and worry about their own.

• neighbors who aren’t very neighborly, because they should love thy neighbor.

• the political party that tries to guilt people into their way of thinking.

• Progressives who are not self aware and not critical of themselves.

• our Republican representatives who remain silent while this president shames our country on a daily basis.

• our tariff-happy president who doesn’t realize or doesn’t care that he is taxing the American people on the goods that they buy.

• the city for spending taxpayer money on contaminated property — a mess that the seller should be required to take care of.

• the owner of the black and white cat that runs loose around Seneca Court ravaging small animals, which should either be kept inside or put a bell on.

• critics who ignore the past history of anti-Americanism.

• school administrators who patronize teachers by saying be happy, then remind them of the dozens of initiatives they need to complete.

• the motivational speaker who used the term “yard apes” to describe classroom students.

• the writer of the letter regarding Republicans’ silence, because perhaps they are silent because there is nothing to say.

• the concept that Democrats can be politically incorrect with no backlash but Republicans are not held to the same.

• the opinion writer who ignores a huge federal agency that generates all its own income in favor of pushing his own agenda.

• the tax-funded establishment that has algae in the fountain.

• the driver of the burgundy Toyota truck who pulled out in front of me from Lowell Road onto U.S. 31 going 40 miles per hour and driving on the shoulder, and almost caused a six-car accident.

• Residents of the housing subdivision who have basketball hoops in the street, because they’re supposed to be on the curb.
