Ivy Tech has new vice chancellor
Ivy Tech Community College has selected a new vice chancellor of academic affairs for the Columbus campus.
Jackie Fischer will join Ivy Tech Columbus this fall.
“Dr. Fischer is a team builder with a deep understanding of community college and a vision for the future of higher education,” said Steven Combs, Ivy Tech Columbus chancellor. “She is an outstanding leader with a wealth of experience in collaboration, management, curriculum development, instructional quality improvement, and other critical academic areas."
Fischer will serve as the chief academic officer for the campus and provide leadership for all campus academic schools and other academic-related areas. She will be tasked with driving the student educational experience and guiding the campus and faculty. She will also be a member of the chancellor’s cabinet.
Before joining Ivy Tech, Fischer served as dean of academic affairs at Moberly Area Community College in Moberly, Missouri. She also previously was assistant academic dean and an assistant professor of psychology at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College near Terre Haute. While at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, she collaborated with Ivy Tech on several initiatives.
Fischer earned a doctorate in counselor education and a master’s degree in college student personnel, both from Indiana State University, and a bachelor’s degree in English from Kentucky Wesleyan College.
