• the older couple walking the People Trail on Marr Road last week picking up and bagging trash as they went along.

• the local church that removed blighted homes from our city that had sub-floors falling apart and could not be made livable again.

• Democrats in Congress who are getting closer to holding the president accountable for his actions.

• Sherry Grimes for the great and truthful letter.

• the many volunteers who helped us with the clean out and demolition work of the future home of the Rural Letter Carriers Museum from the Yellow Trail Museum & Visitors Center, because we couldn’t have done it without you.

• the staff and volunteers of the Columbus Area Arts Council because the 2019 Uncommon Cause was outstanding.

• those that practice civility it in this highly divisive time.

• Eileen Frazier for bringing me the best potato soup and zucchini bread I’ve ever had, from your neighbor.

• Rhonda Herman for being the best caretaker I’ve ever had — giving me showers, cutting and styling my hear and doing my nails, and bringing a friend to my home for a visit, from Betty Holder.

• Tara of Kohl’s for your exceptional assistance with my shopping on Monday afternoon, from a grateful customer.

• Kacey for Kohl’s for helping me shop Monday afternoon.

• the person who submitted an Onion regarding the frequent letter writer whose views are not of the majority.

• the kind gentlemen at Penn Station Subs who went out of their way to get a bucket of water for my Bullmastiff when I came in, afraid he was going to overheat.

Onions to …

• people who break the city ordinance by putting signs in the public right-of-way.

• people who leave their garage sale signs up long after the sale is over, when the signs are officially considered litter.

• people who continue to throw trash out their car windows despite a community member’s efforts to keep the litter in the area cleaned up regularly.

• people who turn around in other people’s driveways because they didn’t read a clearly posted “no outlet” sign.

• the white panel van that disregarded a stop sign and to the police officer right behind him for not stopping the driver.

• people who drink and drive and then throw their empty beer cans and glass pint bottles out their car window in the same place every time.

• weather stations that can’t predict the weather any more accurately than they did 50 years ago.

• all the motorcycle riders who don’t wear helmets for safety.

• the motorcycle driver on Central Avenue between 17th and 10th streets riding well above the 30 mph speed limit with a marked Indiana state police unit cruising alongside in the other lane.

• the man who killed the squirrels in our neighborhood.

• the lady that keeps writing letters in The Republic, because if she thinks she knows it all maybe she should run for president.

• anybody who assumes that the groundskeeper isn’t trying to save the roses, because one don’t know what he’s been trying to do.

• the Trump administration for weakening the Endangered Species Act.

• the Trump administration for throwing $16 billion to compensate for its incompetence with the trade war with China.

• people who don’t have a clue what the concept of boundaries means, because it means that ownership means nothing to them.

• Republicans for incivility.

• anyone who doesn’t realize that it is in fact an invasion when hundreds of thousands cross our southern border illegally.

• those who still cannot comprehend that refugees with children are arriving legally.
