Civil Air Patrol to conduct exercises

Indiana Wing Civil Air Patrol volunteers will conduct search and rescue training exercises out of the Columbus Municipal Airport today through Sunday.

Exercises will be conducted out of Bradley Aviation at the airport.

The exercises will allow Civil Air Patrol members to sharpen skills they would typically need during an actual mission such as a missing person search, overdue aircraft search or a response to a widespread natural disaster.

As the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol is commonly tasked with missions by the U.S. Air Force Rescue Coordination Center out of Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida. Civil Air Patrol performs about 90 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions for the center.
