Around Town – August 17

Orchids to …

• all whom attended and helped with the surprise 95th birthday party for Bill Sorgius at GreenTree at Westwood this past Saturday, and to the staff members that also helped with the surprise, from Iva and Bill Sorgius

• President Trump for keeping America great.

• John Vanderbur for writing the best analogy letter ever to grace the newspaper.

• the military pilots for flying the C-130s, making me feel safe and hoping the president will not throw us into a war.

• the gentleman that is always running or walking his dog in the mornings on State Road 46 by Ceraland, who waves at everybody he meets, because you make me smile.

• Janet and Warren Ward for sharing your Woodstock memories.

• those who support common sense gun control, like treating guns like cars with a license, registration and proof of liability.

• the city for living up to J.I.Miller’s quote, “a community whose citizens are themselves well-paid and who will not tolerate poverty for others, or slums in their midst.”

• John Vanderbur for his delightful letter that made my day and gave me hope.

Onions to …

• any country that bans visitors based on religious beliefs.

• the elderly woman who doesn’t even live on County Road 500W but is in everyone else’s business.

• anyone who thinks an AR-15 is an assault rifle and thinks it’s their business if I own one or not.

• those that do not understand what a great job Trump is doing bringing jobs back.

• a city council that seems to care more about corporate money and shopping malls than they do about my child being able to walk on a sidewalk to school.

• anyone who believes that atheists can’t be good Americans.

• recreational cyclists that delay traffic due to their inability to use one of the many trails/lanes throughout the city made specifically for them.

• the neighbor we have who’s ruined our quiet, rural community with their choice of play on County Road 500W.

• people who are inconsiderate of the train horn and their purpose in regard to safety for those in our community.

• the man at the grocery store on Friday for smacking the car when he thought there was a pedestrian crosswalk when he should be aware that when someone has their backup lights, on they’re backing out.

• the person who submitted an Onion ending with “our country is thriving” when there are warnings of a recession.
