Bull Dogs finish fourth

ZIONSVILLE — Columbus North finished fourth in Saturday’s Zionsville Invitational at Golf Club of Indiana.

Second-ranked Homestead won the tournament with a 307. No. 4 Carmel finished second at 309, and host and No. 6 Zionsville edged the No. 6 Bull Dogs 331-332 for third.

Nathaly Munnicha tied for fourth individually with a 75 to lead North. Annie Anderson and Yestika Nischol each shot 91, Ella Wilks added a 95 and Macy Euler had a 103.

East plays regional course

ANDERSON — Columbus East had a chance to play Edgewood Golf Club, site of the Lapel regional, on Saturday and finished with a 400 team total.

Lauren Steinwedel led the Olympians with an 88. Harley Gant carded a 96, Peyton Meier added a 101, Cristen Martinez shot 115 and Katie Hong had a 117.

Panthers shoot 462

HENRYVILLE — Jennings County finished with a 462 team total in Saturday’s Providence Invitational at Champions Pointe.

Sophia Curry led the Panthers with a 96. Ellie Hearne added a 106, Emy Ralston shot 124 and Abby Rowlett had a 136.

Crusaders win in three

Columbus Christian opened its Southern Roads Conference season Saturday with a 25-19, 25-20, 25-23 victory against Evansville Christian.

Ellie Ridder finished with 10 kills and an ace, and Hannah Stair had four kills, 21 assists and five aces for the Crusaders (2-0). Lauren Hunnicutt added seven kills, two aces and a block; Kayla Jones recorded two digs and five aces and and Madison Henderson finished with five kills and an ace.

Cougars drop three

HANOVER — South Decatur opened its season by going 0-3 in Saturday’s Southwstern (Hanover) Round-Robin. The Cougars fell to Greensburg 25-5, 25-13, New Washington 25-22, 25-20 and Southwestern 25-14, 25-19.

Lily Rigby led South Decatur with 17 digs and six aces. Brook Somers had seven kills and 16 digs.

Lana Bell added seven kills, 15 digs and two aces. Kalie Fry served three aces, and Whitney Burton had two aces.

Hawks notch first win

The Columbus Hawks picked up their first win of the season Friday night, a 25-18, 25-12, 25-9 victory against Fishers Christian Academy.

Sarah Lorimor recorded four assists, one dig and 12 aces; and McKiah Shearer had three kills and one dig to lead the Hawks (1-2). Shearer also added two assists and seven aces.

Natalie Arnold and Lila Hudson each pounded two kills. Emily Ruddick notched one block.

CROSS-country

Jets compete at Austin

AUSTIN — Hauser had four boys and two girls compete in Saturday’s Austin Invitational, which was short of the number needed to score as a team.

Ryan Ault led the Jet boys with a 27th-place finish in 19 minutes 25.08 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles) at Hardy Lake. Alex Bower took 38th in 21:27.62, Noah Estes was 41st in 22:22.19 and Cameron Toole came in 54th in 29:06.06 Hauser.

For the girls, Addison Jones finished 36th in 30:01.52. Kaitlynn Everroad was 37th in 20:34.67.

Eagle boys take 16th

TERRE HAUTE — The Brown County boys finished 16th with 480 points in Saturday’s Valley Cross Kickoff at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course, site of the state finals.

Chase Austin led the Eagles with a 42nd-place finish in 17:31. Cameron Fox took 168th in 19:47, while Waylon Patrick was 173rd (19:51), Rafe Silbaugh 183rd (19:58), Rhett Silbaugh 228th (20:34) and Dylan Taylor 310th (22:35).

Brown County did not have enough girls runners to score as a team. Abby Fleetwood finished fourth in 19:55, while Emelia Koester was 60th (22:14), Emily DeBorg 109th (23:30) and Maris Wyman 162nd (25:01).
