NORTH VERNON
Gary Lee Pruitt, 56, of North Vernon, died unexpectedly August 22, 2019 at his home.
Gary was born March 9, 1963, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Newell Scott and Thelma Yvonne Meade Pruitt.
Mr. Pruitt worked as a carpenter for Pepper Construction. He was a longtime member of the Carpenter’s Union #1775 and a member of the North Vernon Masonic Lodge #59 since 1998. He loved hunting and fishing. Gary would reload his own ammunition and made his own flies for fly fishing. He was also an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan.
Spending time with his granddaughters, Hazel and Allie were the most important to him. Mr. Pruitt will be remembered for his whimsical and quick-witted sense of humor.
Survivors include his children, Baylee (Chris Resnick) Pruitt of Miami, FL., Josie (Ryan) Forsness of Columbus, Braden Nading of North Vernon, Blakli (George) Hukill of North Vernon; parents, Scott and Yvonne Pruitt of Columbus, Kelly Pruitt, also of North Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Scott Pruitt.
In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation will take place and the memorial service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike with Gary Hewitt officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
