9 a.m. update: Craig Whittington, 46, has been located by Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies, according to Sheriff Matt Myers. An ambulance has been sent to the 15000 block of East County Road 500N.
Whittington was found in an attic of a barn owned by his father. Deputies said Whittington was being taken to be checked out at Columbus Regional Hospital and then will be taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of domestic battery in the presence of children and strangulation.

ORIGINAL STORY: Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies are searching for a local man involved in a domestic incident this morning and have asked Flat Rock – Hawcreek schools in Hope to continue a lockdown as the search continues.
Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers said extra personnel have been sent to Hauser Jr.-Sr. High School and Hope Elementary School and there is no danger to the students.
Deputies are looking for Craig Whittington, 46, who is believed to be on foot near the 15000 block of East County Road 500N, Myers said. Deputies have located Whittington’s truck at his parent’s home and have located some firearms and are unsure whether he is armed.
Whittington is descibed as a white male, who doesn’t have a shirt on but is wearing pants and has a red mohawk.
Anyone who sees Whittington is asked to call 911 to report his location.
An Everbridge alert has been set out about Whittington.
Deputies are using a police canine to track Whittington and have also asked for a drone to be deployed in an effort to find him, as the area has woods and a nearby creek.
