The Olympians cracked the double-digit mark in opening their Hoosier Hills Conference schedule with an 11-0 rout of Madison.

“It was very good to see,” East coach Ilya Schwartzman said. “We came out with a lot of good combinations, and finishing was very solid. I was very proud of how the kids came out and played after last week’s disappointments.”

The Olympians (2-2-1, 1-0) actually went the first 10 minutes without scoring. Their first goal came in the 11th minute when Maya Federle connected off an assist from Jaeda Berkemeier.

The two goals by Soedel, who was making her first varsity start, were the first of her high school career.

“Those were really nice,” Soedel said. “I think it was good to get those goals.”

East had scored only three goals in its first four games. All three of those came from Dwenger in a win at Roncalli.

“That was really good to see,” Schwartzman said. “This is what I was hoping would happen. We have a lot of firepower on the offensive end, we just haven’t come through, and this game was really good to see that so many people showed up and were able to finish it.”
