East shuts out Seymour
SEYMOUR — Class 3A No. 10 Columbus East led only 1-0 at halftime Thursday, but pulled away in the second half for a 4-0 Hoosier Hills Conference win at Seymour.
Logan Cline scored two goals, and Chris Quisenberry and Leyton Erfmeier each added one for the Olympians (6-0-1, 2-0). Ben Romig, Adam Wear, Chris Quisenberry had assists.
East’s Zach Roberts recorded three saves.
North rallies for win
INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus North rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to pull out a 2-1 win at Franklin Central.
The Flashes scored first in the 34th minute. The Bull Dogs (2-4) tied it in the 54th minute on a goal by Graham Keele and went ahead in the 65th minute with when Sotaro Kaneda scored off an assist from Keele.
Franklin Central outshot North 32-12, putting 16 shots on goal to the Bull Dogs’ five. Colvin Iorio posted 15 saves.
Jets edge Cougars
SEYMOUR — Franco Avila scored two goals to lead Hauser to a 2-1 win at Trinity Lutheran.
Cameron Scott had two assists for the Jets (2-2). Caleb Walker recorded eight saves.
Sawyer Doggett bended in a corner kick for the goal for the Cougars (0-5). Brayden Stockleman posted 12 saves.

Bull Dogs down Falcons
INDIANAPOLIS — Co-No. 5 Columbus North remained unbeaten with a 4-1 win at Perry Meridian.
Bhavey Jain beat Blake Deaton 6-3, 6-7, (10-1) at No. 2 singles, and Adam Saad downed Ryan Wombles 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Bull Dogs (5-0). Matthew Liu and Joey Zhao topped Victor Barona 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, and Eamon Ma and Will King beat Anthony Lin and Enzio Salemi 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
North’s Kevin Lin fell to Sajin Smith 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.
Panthers top Olympians
NORTH VERNON — Jennings County pulled out a pair of three-set wins to claim a 4-1 victory against Columbus East.
Wyatt St. John beat Pranav Kumar 6-7 (3), 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and Owen Law downed Derek Heideman 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 singles for the Panthers (3-5). Jennings’ Jacob Vogel and Joe Kelley topped Emmit Romine and Matthew Degner 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (3) at No. 1 doubles, and Greyson Jackson and Alex Leach beat Jimmy Clarke and Bridger Wagner 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
The point for the Olympians (1-6) came at No. 3 singles, where Danny Murphy topped Justin Ramey 6-4, 6-2.
Jets lose to Braves
TRAFALGAR — Hauser won at No. 1 singles, but Indian Creek took other four spots to hand the Jets a 4-1 defeat.
Ethan Wallace beat Jake Mitchell 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 singles for the Jets (0-4). Keagan Miller fell to Cass Mitchell 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Dawson Paul lost to Garrett Dalton 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
Hauser’s Caleb Hoover and Sam Miller fell to Andrew Long and Mitchell Walls 7-6, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles. Alex Pattingill and Carson Rose lost to Jaden Schrougham and Aiden Pemberton 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Eagles blank Patriots
NASHVILLE — Brown County won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 Western Indiana Conference win against Owen Valley.
Aaron McCann beat Rece Heckman 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Josh Miller downed Colby Beckwith 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Reid Davis topped Ethan Lantz 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (9-1, 2-1).
Brown County’s Nolan Patterson and Aiden Burt beat Kaleb Dill and Zach Hamilton 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Spencer Blee and Noah Cochran defeated Stephen Atkinson and Kolton Jackson 7-5, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.
Spartans stop Lancers
SHELBYVILLE — Southwestern (Shelby) won four matches in straight sets in a 4-1 MHC win against Edinburgh.
Max Blandford beat Conner Rowe 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles for the Lancers (0-4, 0-2). Brayden McManaway fell to Nick Robinson 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Travis Jones lost to Grant Emerick 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
Edinburgh’s Trevor Moon and Preston Smith fell to Anthony Atwood and Decklan Pappano 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Kolton Reed and Chase Littlejohn lost to Caleb Pappano and Tristan Pappano 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Bull Dogs fall in 4
MARTINSVILLE — Columbus North won the third set, but Martinsville recovered to post a 25-21, 25-18, 23-25, 25-23 victory.
Reagan Kane led the Bull Dogs (2-4) with 18 assists and two aces. Emma Tynan pounded 11 kills, Madison White had six blocks and Jalynn Reardon tallied 15 digs.
Also for North Sarah Bennett notched five kills, and White and Madi Roop each added three kills. Roop, Tynan and Gabby Genth all had two blocks, Kate Whaley contributed 12 digs and Tynan added 11 digs.
Colubmus Christian wins
INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus Christian got off to a slow start but cruised in the final two sets for a 25-23, 25-13, 25-15 win at Colonial Christian.
Lauren Hunnictt pounded 14 kills and one block, and Hannah Stair had 20 assists and seven aces to lead the Crusaders (6-0). Madison Henderson had one block, and Kayla Jones tallied six digs.
Also for Columbus Christian, Madison Henderson recorded eight kills, four digs and two aces; and Ellie Ridder added seven kills. Ann Marie Gandy notched three kills, Emily Stair had three digs and Jones served four aces.
Panthers fall in 3
SEYMOUR — Jennings County came close in the third set, but Seymour held on for a 25-14, 25-19, 25-23 HC win.
Abi Vogel led the Panthers (5-8, 1-3) with eight kills and an ace. Megan Vogel recorded 11 assists, Grace Ramey had two solo and four assist blocks and Hanah Bertram tallied 13 digs.
Also for Jennings, Carmen Kopitzke added four assists and seven digs. Caitlin Hurley pounded five kills, and Vogel had two solo and three assist blocks.
Eagles topple Cougars
GREENSBURG — South Decatur came close in the second set, but Brown County claimed a 25-16, 25-23, 25-16 victory.
Chloe Lee pounded 12 kills, Abigail Hollander and Abigail Bowman each recorded 11 assists, Mary Rygiel tallied eight digs and Abigail Angebrandt served three aces to lead the Eagles (6-1). Addison Branson added four kills and two aces; and Lee, Suding and Whitney Clark all had five digs.
Lana Bell recorded six kills and two aces, and Brook Somers had 11 digs and two aces to lead the Cougars (1-12). Whitnye Burton notched seven assists, and Savannah Bushhorn had one block.
Spartans sweep Lancers
EDINBURGH — Edinburgh endured a 25-17, 25-11, 25-7 MHC setback against Southwestern (Shelby).
Paige Burton led the Lancers (4-7) with five kills and three blocks. Emily Chappelow recorded seven assists, and Callie Hancock and Bethany Burton each had three digs.
Trinity defeats Warriors
NEW ALBANY — Class A No. 3 Trinity Lutheran went on the road and swept perennial power Christian Academy of Indiana 25-18, 25-17, 25-16.
Hannah Sabotin led the Cougars (7-3) with 13 kills and two blocks. Bailey Reynolds recorded 36 assists, Kamzi Gross tallied 21 digs and Carter served five aces.
Also for Trinity, Sydney Jaynes added 10 kills and one block. Bailey Tabeling had nine kills and one block.
GIRLS SOCCER
East JV blanks Eagles
Catherine Wolf scored two goals to lead the Columbus East JV to a 5-0 win against the Brown County varsity.
Sydney Berkemeier, Ashley Thomasson and Grace Wiltsey all scored goals for the Olympians (4-0). Riley Gaskill and Maggie Mathews had assists.
East putshot the Eagles (0-3) 20-1. Anna Liimatta recorded one save for the Olympians.
GIRLS golf
Bulldogs outscore Lancers
CLAYTON — Edinburgh had a couple of new players compete for the first time, but fell to Monrovia 215-225 at Deer Creek.
Morgan Calhoun led the Lancers with a 49. Annelise Lollar and Maddy McGaha each shot 56 and Haven Link had a 59 and newcomers Jillian Turner and Serenity Smith added a 66 and 70, respectively.
