A group of St. Peter’s Lutheran School students went to the Bartholomew County Jail to say prayers for female prisoners who are participating in this weekend’s Residents Encounter Christ.
One of the highlights of my being Sheriff is bringing Residents Encounter Christ to BCJ inmates who want to participate,” said Bartholomew County Sheriff Matthew A. Myers. “This morning (Friday) was a second highlight as young people from St. Peter’s Lutheran School came to the jail to pray for our female inmates and our REC program.”
Each student held a card with the name of an inmate and each student prayed aloud and individually for the person whose name was on his/her card.
Myers said the students showed the commitment that St. Peter’s and other area churches have to individuals in the jail.
“I want to thank St. Peter’s Lutheran School, the students, Jim Sollenberger and Beth Mihay for coming to the jail today and making this a day to remember,” Myers said.
