East fifth in HHC

MADISON — Columbus East finished fifth in Monday’s Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament at Sunrise Golf Course.

The Olympians carded a 385 team total, one shot behind fourth-place Madison. Bedford North Lawrence won with a 330.

Lauren Steinwedel led the Olympians with an 85 to earn a spot on the All-Conference team. Peyton Meier added a 98, Harley Gant and Cristen Martinez each shot 101 and Katie Hong had a 109.

Jennings County finished eighth with a 461. Ellie Hearne led the Panthers with an 88 to earn honorable mention All-Conference honors. Emy Ralston carded a 114, Abby Rowlett added a 125, Lavanna Rickly shot 134 and Macie Cowan had a 137.

Crusaders stay unbeaten

MEDORA — Columbus Christian ran its record to 10-0 with a 25-3, 25-18, 25-13 win at Medora.

Madison Henderson recorded four kills, three digs and six aces, and Lauren Hunnicutt had five kills and four aces for the Crusaders. Ellie Ridder notched two kills, three digs and once ace, and Hannah Stair added one kill, eight assists, four digs and six aces.

Also for Columbus Christian, Emily Stair tallied two assists, three digs and three aces. Kayla Jones had two kills, four digs and three aces, and Ann Marie Gandy pounded one kill.

Owls top Jets in five

HOPE — Hauser twice battled back from one-set deficits against Class 4A Seymour, but the Owls pulled out a 25-18, 19-25, 25-13, 25-27, 15-7 victory.

Hannah Johnson pounded 12 kills and seven blocks, Aunaka Wasil recorded 34 assists and Shelby Fugate had 20 digs and an ace to lead the Jets (10-4). Kylie Lock also served one ace.

Also for Hauser, Fugate tallied nine kills and one block, Lock added eight kills and 11 digs and Melanie Taylor had one assist and 17 digs. Marnie Schwartzkopf pounded six kills, Johnson notched three assists, Olivia Wright had one block and Andie Clark contributed 15 digs.

Panthers snap skid

AUSTIN — Jennings County snapped a six-match losing streak with a 25-17, 25-16, 25-18 victory at Austin.

Abi Vogel led the Panthers (6-11) with 10 kills, four solo and one assist block and three aces. Megan Vogel recorded 15 assists, and Hanah Bertram tallied 24 digs.

Also for Jennings, Kopitzke notched assists and two aces. Grace Ramey pounded five kills, Liz Ertel had one solo and three assists blocks Karma Warren added nine digs and Bertram served two aces.

Chargers sweep Lancers

GREENSBURG — Edinburgh dropped a 25-16, 25-17, 25-17 Mid-Hoosier Conference decision at North Decatur.

The Lancers fell to 4-12 overall and 2-2 in the MHC.

Trinity tops Madison

SEYMOUR — Class A No. 2 Trinity Lutheran had little trouble in posting a 25-10, 25-7, 25-19 win against Madison.

Kamzi Gross led the Cougars (15-5) with 10 digs and three aces. Sydney Jaynes pounded 12 kills, Bailey Reynolds recorded 14 assists and Kennedy Hoffman had two blocks.

Also for Trinity, Hoffman notched eight kills and two aces, and Paige Lawrence had five assists. Jaynes added one block, and Bailey Tabeling served two aces.

North ties Trojans

ST. LEON — Columbus North scored the go-ahead goal in the 66th minute, but East Central answered in the 70th minute, and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

Andrew Goble scored for the Bull Dogs (3-6-1) off an assist from Graham Keele.

North outshot the Trojans 27-22, but East Central put 12 shots on goal to eight for the Bull Dogs. Colvin Iorio recorded 11 saves.

Bulldogs blank Panthers

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County couldn’t find its offense in a 2-0 loss to Batesville.

Cameron Woodard posted four saves for the Panthers (1-10).

Trinity gets first win

SEYMOUR — Kash Siefker netted three goals and an asisst to lead Trinity Lutheran to its first win of the season, a 5-0 victory against Salem.

Micah Baumgartel scored a goal, and the Cougars (1-8) scored on an own goal. Sawyer Doggett, Kaleb Baumgartel and Connor Sims also had assists.

Trinity outshot the Lions 32-15. Brayden Stockleman recorded nine saves.

Warriors edge Panthers

NORTH VERNON — Scottsburg pulled out a pair of three-set wins to hand Jennings County a 3-2 defeat.

Justin Ramey beat Eli Carr 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles for the Panthers (4-8). Alex Leach and Jacob Vogel topped Blake Drury and Joe Neece 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Jennings’ Wyatt St. John fell to Ryan Gibson 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Owen Law lost to Cole Atha 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Joe Kelley and Greyson Jackson fell to David Gaffney and Colin Ray 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.

Lancers fall to Owls

SEYMOUR — Seymour won four matches in straight sets in a 4-1 win against Edinburgh.

Max Blandford beat Brett Otte 3-6, 6-2, (10-8) at No. 2 singles for the Lancers (1-7).

Edinburgh’s Brayden McManaway fell to Will Rinehart 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, and Travis Jones lost to Hunter Heckman 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Parker Newman and Chase Littlejohn fell to Vincent Camboulas and Isaac Hardin 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, and Kolton Reed and Trevor Moon lost to Braden Handloser and Eli Meyer 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Stars stop Eagles

NASHVILLE — Brown County put together its biggest offensive output of the season, but fell 6-3 to Bedford North Lawrence.

Marley Nickles netted two goals for the Eagles (0-7-1). Alli Majors scored the other goal.

The Stars outshot Brown County 15-11. Sarah Callahan played the first 50 minutes in goal and recorded six saves, and Hannah Hummel posted three saves over the final 30 minutes.
