Little Nashville Opry west of Nashville on State Road 46, a theater that hosted some of the biggest names in country music for 34 years, burned to the ground.

1994

Students at Columbus East and North high schools and Northside and Central middle schools gathered around flagpoles shortly after sunrise to participate in the nationwide “See You at the Pole” youth prayer service.

1969

A county official expressed concern over the lack of work being done to improve the “sad state” of Heflin Camp, a 27-acre site donated to the county for a recreation area by the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Heflin in 1967.
