CPD investigating report about threat to Central Middle School

The Columbus Police Department is investigating a report made by a third party in regards to a threat made on a social media post involving an unspecified act of violence Wednesday at Central Middle School, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Several CPD officers, including school resource officers, are working to determine the source of the social media post.  There are currently a lot of rumors as well as false and inaccurate information being shared online.

Harris said officers have not confirmed any credible threat to students or staff at the school.

CPD has been in constant communication with BCSC staff this evening and will update the community with any relevant developments.

Josh Burnett, a spokesperson for BCSC, confirmed school is on as scheduled Wednesday. He said BCSC will provide more information as necessary.
