A Hope woman was in critical condition at an Indianapolis hospital after a two-vehicle accident at State Road 9 and East County Road 225N.
The accident was reported at 8:39 p.m. Monday, Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies said.
Investigators said a vehicle driven by Victoria Hiatt, 51, Hope, was traveling south on State Road 9 when her vehicle rear-ended a truck driven by Jared Rutan, 30, Columbus. Rutan was stopped while attempting to turn eastbound onto East County Road 225N from State Road 9 when his truck was hit from the rear, deputies said.
Hiatt was transported by Lifeline helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital where her condition was listed as critical, but stable on Tuesday, hospital officials said.
A 4-year-old child in Rutan’s truck was later transported to Columbus Regional Hospital where his condition is unknown, deputies said.
Deputy Mark Helms was called in to reconstruct the crash, deputies said.
