East edges Jennings
NORTH VERNON — Columbus East pulled out a pair of three-set wins Wednesday to claim a 3-2 victory at Jennings County in the consolation round of the Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament.
Pranav Kumar beat Wyatt St. John 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, and Danny Murphy downed Justin Ramey 6-7 (4), 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 singles for the Olympians (3-13). East’s Emmit Romine and Caleb Wettschurack topped Alex Leach and Greyson Jackson 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Owen Law beat Matthew Degner 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles for the Panthers (4-13). Jennings’ Joe Kelley and Jacob Vogel defeated Wyatt Romine and Derek Heideman 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.
Both East and Jennings will host placement-round matches on Friday.

OLDENBURG — Oldenburg Academy won all five matches in straight sets Wednesday in a 5-0 win against Hauser
Ethan Wallace fell to Michael Wanstrath 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Keagan Miller lost to Riley Schebler 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Sam Miller fell to Drew Wagner 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Jets (2-9).
Hauser’s Caleb Hoover and Levi Gollmer lost to Jacob Sheets and Patrick Thompson 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Carson Rose and Dawson Paul fell to Ethan Back and Jon Grieshop 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Eagles blank Arrows
ELLETTSVILLE — Brown County wrapped up second place in the Western Indiana Conference with a 5-0 win against Sullivan in a match played at Edgewood.
Aaron McCann blanked Parker Dugan 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Josh Miller downed Scott Fusco 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Reid Davis topped Tyler Kellett 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (16-2, 7-1).
Brown County’s Aiden Burt and Nolan Patterson beat Brayden Cagle and Jared Couch 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Noah Cochran and Spencer Blee blanked Noah Kincaid and Dillon Grubb 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Panthers fall to Floyd
NORTH VERNON — Jennings County ran into a tough Floyd Central team Wednesday and came away with a 9-0 HHC loss.
Cameron Woodard recorded 11 saves for the Panthers (1-13, 0-6). Braden Foster added three saves, and Wyatt Messer had two saves.

Eagle girls take third
SELLERSBURG — The Brown County girls finished third in Tuesday’s Silver Creek Invitational. Seymour won with 74 points to 78 for Charlestown and 86 for the Eagles.
Hadley Gradolf led Brown County with a second-place finish in 20 minutes for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). Emelia Koester took 12th in 21:22, while Anna Fleetwood was 14th (21:29), Emma DeBord 23rd (22:15) and Maris Wyman 35th (23:31).
The Eagle boys finished sixth 166 points. Seymour won with 53. Chase Austin took fourth in 17:10 to lead Brown County, while Rafe Silbaugh was 26th (18:22), Waylon Patrick 36th (18:53), Cam Fox 42nd (18:59) and Rhett Silbaugh 58th (19:46).
Trinity Lutheran had three girls runners, two short of the number needed to score as a team. Sadie Nay and Mya Nay finished 58th and 59th in 25:53 and 25:56, and Abby Hildreth was 86th in 29:07.
