Columbus North celebrated senior night with Graham Keele, Andrew Goble, Ben Malone and Sotaro Kaneda before its Tuesday night non-conference matchup with Seymour.
The Bull Dogs controlled most of the possession and outshot the Owls by a significant margin, but it didn’t show on the scoreboard until late in the first half with a penalty kick.
From there, North sent its seniors home happy, coasting to a 4-0 victory to end the regular season 6-9-1.
The Bull Dogs will to carry the momentum heading into sectional.
“We have a lot of confidence to take from this result,” Keele said. “We’ve been playing for it all year. Now that it is finally here, we feel that we’ve done everything we can to be ready to come out with the results we want. At this point, we’re in a good spot, and we’ll see what we can do come next week.”
The lone first half goal came in the 33rd minute when Seymour committed a handball in the box that resulted in a penalty kick. There was no denying Keele, whose shot went straight to the net for a 1-0 lead.
Keele extended the lead in the 49th minute when he took the touch from Nathan White, and Keele’s shot from the left side of the box just made it inside the right post to make it 2-0.
In the 68th minute, Goble got in the action with a goal off an assist from Keele. In the 71st minute, Caleb Boyce netted a goal off a corner kick.
Goble reflected on his time with the Bull Dog program.
“I have a lot of good memories here, and I still have more to make,” Goble said. “We have sectional coming up, and we have a really good chance to get into the finals. We’re not done yet by any means. It’s our last home game, but we’ll still get crowds to go to our games on the road, and we’ll be ready to go.”
North coach Tom Pollert appreciated his seniors.
“I’m proud of the seniors. The last two weeks, they really stepped it up, and it showed tonight,” Pollert said. “I’m proud of them, just really proud of them.”
The Bull Dogs had 20 shots with 11 on goal, to two shots, with both on goal for Seymour. Colvin Iorio recorded two saves.
