Columbus firefighters were sent to a vehicle fire at the 3600 block of Commerce Drive at 8:10 a.m. Friday.
Firefighters found an unoccupied 1994 Buick Park Avenue fully engulfed in flames. The fire was quickly extinguished. No damages were reported to the surrounding buildings and no injuries were reported at the scene.
Investigators spoke with the driver of the vehicle, who believed that a possible mechanical issue had occurred just prior to the fire. The vehicle driver told investigators that a strong odor of gasoline was present before flames consumed the vehicle.
The vehicle was destroyed as a result of the fire and damages are estimated at $1,500. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
