Cougars sweep Tigers

SEYMOUR — Class A No. 1 Trinity Lutheran opened what it hopes is a run to a state title with a 25-5, 25-5, 27-5 win against Crothersville Tuesday in the opening round of the Trinity Sectional.

Hannah Sabotin pounded 18 kills and one block, Bailey Reynolds recorded 36 assists and four aces and Bailey Tabeling tallied 10 digs and four aces to lead the Cougars (26-5).

Also for Trinity, Sydney Jaynes notched eight kills, and Kennedy Hoffman added six kills. Reynolds contributed nine digs, Elly Carter had eight digs and Stella Kleffman served four aces.

The Cougars will play Medora in the semifinals at 11 a.m. Saturday. The sectional final will be at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Eagles fall in five

SPENCER — Brown County took a two sets-to-none lead, but Edgewood rallied for a 21-25, 22-25, 29-27, 25-17, 15-12 win in the first round of the Class 3A Owen Calley Sectional.

The Eagles finish the season 10-11.
