Around Town – October 17

Oct. 17

Orchids to …

• Charlie Day, Juliana Bernabe, the many volunteers from Columbus Pickleball Club and Columbus Parks and Recreation for all their hard work on a great pickleball tournament with more than 200 players last weekend, and to Tipton Lakes Athletic Club for the use of their great facility.

• Democratic nominees for telling the truth about the person who is in the White House.

• Democratic presidential candidates who are respectful and intelligent.

• Julie McClure and The Republic for reporting on the sheriff’s judgment.

• the two nice ladies who brought me a KFC dinner and a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

• Vicki Murphy for the decorated mini-pumpkins, from the retired nurses group.

• whoever surprised us with the beautiful pumpkin display on our porch.

• the people who helped the lady get in her red van at Kroger Tuesday night.

• Judy Goddard for all the get-well cards, from Tom’s Judy.

• Sheriff Matt Myers for exploring every opportunity for the protection of Bartholomew County citizens.

• the couple who bought our dinner at Amazing Joe’s Tuesday evening, because it was appreciated and quite a surprise.

• Democratic leaders who are leading a careful inquiry into the behavior of the president and some of his closest advisers.

Onions to …

• people who feel entitled to disregard signage and make U-turns into the fast-food restaurant.

• those who think Christians are making excuses for the president’s behavior simply because we don’t jump on the disrespectful, name-calling, hate-filled bandwagon that the left is riding.

• those who value unborn babies more than the living babies being killed in Northern Syria.

• the so-called coach that can’t coach but verbally abuses the team and can’t understand why so many players have quit the team.

• Democrats for their endless witch hunts.

• the president and his supporters who think we don’t need gun control.

• our president who was strongly pro-choice until he needed pro-life votes.

• Democratic presidential candidates who want to tax our savings.

• those who think that because an organization is against those who break the law they are bigoted.

• any church whose creed of "love thy neighbor" is love thy white, heterosexual, christian neighbor — and should also pay taxes.

• the president who, if he did nothing wrong, wouldn’t need his army of lawyers.

• Republican enablers of this president.

• the stable genius whose impulsive decision to abandon an ally who fought and died alongside U.S. troops to defeat ISIS led directly to the escape of hundreds of imprisoned ISIS terrorists.

• anyone who does not recognize that a certain organization is itself a hate group.

• the preservation organization for once again losing sight of its mission.

• anyone who thinks a public official who was a very liberal pro-abortion Democrat all his life is now pro-life just because he was voted into a position in the Republican party.

• the Turkish militia attacking Kurds within 4 miles of U.S. troops.

• politicians who gave Turkey the green light to attack Kurds who are now being slaughtered.

• the TV provider for taking away Turner Classic Movies, my favorite channel.

• the TV provider for removing Turner Classic Movies from its lineup, because it was my favorite channel.

• politicians who committed a crime in plain sight.

• politicians who daily try to violate the constitution.
