COLUMBUS
Sharon M. Worton, 70, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 6:34 p.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Worton was born in Columbus, Indiana, Monday, January 31, 1949, the loving daughter of the late John P. and Wanda F. Crouch Parker. On March 18, 2000, Sharon married Jack E. Worton Sr. at the Columbus Free Methodist Church.
A homemaker, Mrs. Worton had worked earlier in life at Nancy’s Nook and Nursery and she was an interior decorator.
She formerly attended Garden City Church of Christ and currently was a member of the Columbus Free Methodist Church. She also enjoyed membership at the Columbus Moose Lodge No. 398 and American Legion Post 24.
Her Bible study was very important to her and she enjoyed flower gardening and doing crafts.
Mrs. Worton is survived by her husband of 19 years, Jack E. Worton Sr.; her children, Sherry (Tony) Seegraves of Columbus, Lynn (Willie) Burke of North Vernon, James D. (Amber) Worton of Columbus and Jack E. (Carrie) Worton Jr. of Taylorsville; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Brenda Moore of Columbus, Debra Leslie of Missouri and Marcia Taylor of Columbus; and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
Mrs. Worton was preceded in death by her parents, John and Wanda Parker.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 21, 2019 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Luke Maggard officiating.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Worton will be laid to rest in Section 91 at Garland Brook Cemetery.
