Affordable housing documentary to be screened

It has been just a little over one year since construction began on a 1,346-square-foot house on Pearl Street that would soon be home to a Columbus family.

Since then, a family has moved into the gray two-bedroom home and the Lincoln Central Neighborhood Housing Program has already started its efforts to construct a second home.

To celebrate its inaugural year of efforts, the organization, a collaboration with eight community partners, will premiere Thursday a 20-minute documentary about the housing program and the collaborative efforts to build the first home of the program.

“The idea behind the documentary is this is such a unique partnership bringing together all these different organizations,” said Diane Doup, community outreach coordinator of the Lincoln-Central Neighborhood Family Center. “We not only wanted to document the process but also celebrate each of the partners and highlight the project.”

The documentary, produced by Red Bridge Media, will premiere at YES Cinema, 328 Jackson St. on Thursday at 5:15 p.m. Doors open at 4:45 p.m. with wine, beer and concessions available for purchase.
