Around Town – October 23

Orchids to …

• the Bartholomew County Health Department for its drive-thru flu shot clinic staffed by friendly folks who had to work in windy conditions but provided a great public service.

• Danny Kubal for the fabulous, all-too-true letter.

• the State Department for its probe of Hillary Clinton’s emails that concluded there was no deliberate mishandling of classified information, thereby refuting Trump’s “lock her up” claim.

• U.S. Sen. Todd Young, a U.S. Navy veteran and Republican, for co-sponsoring a bipartisan measure opposing the decision to allow the Turkish military to attack America’s Syrian Kurdish partners.

• the Democrat who admits we have a great economy today.

• Myers-Reed and Hathaway-Myers funeral services for their beautiful calendars, from John Tinkey.

• the president for shaking things up and getting rid of the swamp.

• Jane Siefert for the scrumptious homemade vegetable soup, from your neighbor, Betty.

• all who gave their time and donations to make the Taylorsville United Methodist Church chicken dinner and Christmas Store such a success, and special thanks to Texas Roadhouse.

Onions to …

• the two men that cut in front of me at the long line at the bank Monday at lunch.

• people that don’t understand it’s not about the inability to accept other cultures, instead it’s not tolerating rude, inconsiderate, argumentative people in general.

• the pay-TV provider for not only removing Turner Classic Movies but also removing my WETV, TVLand, WGN and ID (Investigative Discovery), and not replacing them or lowering my payments.

• Socialist agitators and their mindless followers bending over backward to argue that the basis for the Electoral College established in the U.S. Constitution is flawed.

• those that can’t comprehend Obama did nothing for the economy and the only thing he deserves credit for is making it easy for Trump to undo Obama’s anti-growth policies.

• the hospital that does not having a Level 1 trauma center but opts for expensive helicopter rides to other hospitals.

• the administration for stating the U.S. Constitution doesn’t apply to the president.

• those who cannot accept that our economy truly took off only after President Trump reversed President Obama’s economic policies.

• Democrats who hate this president and don’t care about our country and keep it divided.

• those who want to keep the country divided instead of standing behind the president and making this country better.
