Edward G Pierce, 72, of Edinburgh, passed from this life at 6:50 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2019 at the Columbus Regional Hospital Emergency Room.

Mr. Pierce was born March 17, 1947, in Columbus, the son of Glen N. and Mary Louise Carter Pierce.

He married Marjorie “Margie” Kimble September 24, 1967.

Edward retired from Cummins Engine Company as a technical specialist after 30 years of service.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin and Columbus Sports Car Club.

Mr. Pierce was a 1965 graduate of Columbus High School where he competed in wrestling. His senior year he finished in 4th place at the State Wrestling Tournament. He was a Purdue University graduate and a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam war.

A sports enthusiast Mr. Pierce was an avid Indiana University sports fan. He enjoyed golf, building and maintaining sports cars and was a former Indiana High School volleyball and wrestling referee and a softball and baseball umpire.

He was formerly active in youth sports and Boy Scouts of America

He enjoyed spending time with family and watching his grandsons sporting events.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years; children, Dennis (Rhonda) Pierce of Columbus and Amy (Craig) Robinson of Indianapolis; grandsons, Zachary Pierce, Jacob Pierce and Tyler Robinson; and a sister, Sue Ann Romine of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private family service is planned at the funeral home.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street.

In keeping with Mr. Pierce’s wishes, cremation will take place following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
