Following a long and fulfilling life, Judson Ray Pittman was welcomed into the kingdom of heaven on October 23, 2019. He is now basking in the unspeakable joys of heaven in the very presence of Christ himself.

Jud was born on November 29, 1931 in Whitley City, Kentucky. His parents Harley Herbert Pittman (deceased) and Ida Virginia Pittman (deceased).

He was married to Joyce Maxine Puckett on June 27, 1954. The bond of love that they shared for 64 years was unbreakable. She passed on to glory on July 28, 2018.

Survivors include his sister, Janet (Russell) Venable of Columbus, IN; children, Darryl (Debbie) Pittman of Madison, GA, Brenda (Charles) Fleetwood, Ogilville, IN and Gary (Angela) Pittman, Seymour, IN; grandchildren, Carrie (Tim) Miller of Madison, GA, Ashly (Chad) Hunt of Madison, GA, and Judson Pittman of Columbus, IN; and great-grandchildren, Jackson, Braydon and Caden Miller, Jillian and Gavin Hunt.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Pittman; and a grandson, Jillian Pittman.

Jud was a long-time member of Hartsville UMC and later became a member of Ogilville Christian Church. He was employed by Cummins Engine Co. for 37 years before retiring in 1987. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and bench rest shooter.

Mr. Pittman was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Hartsville Masonic Lodge 547.

Above all, he was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed in this world, but his memory and legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Martin E. Wright officiating.

Family and friends may call from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. until service time Monday

Entombment will be at the Garland Brook Mausoleum with military honors presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
