One injured in collision between van, farm equipment

Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies are investigating an accident involving a minivan and farm equipment in which a local woman was injured.

Deputy Jeff Tindell was sent to U.S. 31 north of County Road 600S about the accident Thursday morning, deputies said.

Tindell located a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan and a farm tractor involved in the crash, deputies said.

The driver of the Dodge Caravan, Stephanie Brown, 33, Columbus, was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital where she was treated and released. The driver of the farm tractor, Mark Kiel, 61, Columbus, was uninjured.

The accident remains under investigation.

Bartholomew County Sheriff Matthew A. Myers reminds motorists that more farm equipment is on the road in the fall.

Myers also reminded farmers to have all lighting and placards on equipment as required by law, avoid traveling (if at all possible) during rush hour traffic and to wear high visibility or reflective clothing when working so as to be seen by motorists.

Assisting agencies were Columbus Township Fire Department, Columbus Regional Hospital Ambulance, Bartholomew County Highway, R & R Towing and 31 Wrecker.
